Nilu, great question! Harissa is a hot sauce specific to North Africa. I found it at my local grocer - but admittedly they have lots of international items. I have seen it at Whole Foods or at middle eastern grocers. Or you can make your own. http://mideastfood.about.com/od/dipsandsauces/r/harissa.htm It is not typically spicy hot but rather has a great tangy, complex flavor. It adds a pretty special note to this recipe which would otherwise just be a very basic tomato and red bell pepper sauce. I would totally serve this to kids - the finished dish is mild. Let me know what your little one thinks - and you too of course! :)

Didn't know what harissa was. Had to Google it. Do you think it's crucial to the recipe flavor? Would it be too spicy for normal kids? I think yours eats pretty spicy. What stores carry it?
